🚢 Virgin Voyages Trip Report🚢 (Wednesday–Sunday)

A Quick Trip That Felt Like a Full Reset

Steve and I just got back from a Wednesday–Sunday sailing with Virgin Voyages, and I’m still smiling about it. It was equal parts relaxing, hilarious, and surprisingly refreshing — the kind of trip where you can dress up, sleep in, eat well, laugh a lot, and still be back home before you’ve even had time to miss your own bed. If you’ve been craving a getaway that feels fun and elevated (without being fussy), Virgin is absolutely worth a look.

👥 The Crowd: Normal, Fun, and Way More Mixed Than People Assume

Let me start by clearing up one thing: the crowd felt the same as any other cruise.
Not wild. Not weird. Not “only one type of traveler.”

It was a great mix of all ages (18 and over of course):

  • couples

  • girlfriends trips

  • celebratory groups (birthdays + bachelorettes)

  • and a surprising number of solo travelers

👯‍♀️ Solo Travelers: Built-In Meetups

One thing I loved: Virgin hosts solo traveler meetups.
So if you want to travel alone but don’t want to feel awkward or isolated, it’s actually very welcoming.

🛏️ Introvert-Friendly (And Honestly… a Whole Mood)

If your social battery drains quickly (hi, same sometimes), Virgin is also perfect for that.

There are tons of great movies available right in your room, and room service is included — so you can fully recharge without feeling like you’re missing out.

Steve and I literally ordered gummy bears, popcorn and grabbed a pizza one night and watched movies in bed like we were at a luxury sleepover 😂. Truly one of my favorite parts of the trip.

🎪 Entertainment: Circus-Style, Fun, and Not the Typical Cruise Show

Virgin’s entertainment is so different from the usual cruise format — more circus-style, high-energy, often times immersive and genuinely fun.

There’s also:

  • Drag Bingo

  • fun nightclub events

  • live bands

  • Scarlet Night party as well as themed nights (think PJ parties and a super fun 90s rock vibe in the club)

It felt lively without being chaotic.

🏋️‍♀️ Activities: Yes, Including Bungee Aerobics

Virgin also has a ton of activities onboard — and some are hilariously unexpected.

Example: bungee aerobics 😂
I’m still laughing.

💍 Bachelorette Groups (And a Genius Idea)

There were several bachelorette groups on our sailing — and strangely, no bachelor parties.

One group even had the bride’s mom along, which I thought was SUCH a fun idea.

And it made me think: if you’ve got two brides in the group (or sisters/cousins getting married), you could do one big combined bachelorette blowout and make it an entire girls’ trip celebration.

Who This Trip Is Perfect For

Virgin Voyages is a really great fit if you’re:

  • A couple who wants something fun and modern

  • A girlfriends group who wants nightlife + great food + relaxation (I saw the most fun group of book club ladies in their 70’s that were living it up!)

  • A bachelorette crew that wants a celebration without chaos

  • A solo traveler who wants community options without pressure

  • A busy professional who wants a quick trip that still feels like a full reset

  • Someone who loves entertainment (music, shows, events, themes)

  • An introvert who still likes fun — because you can fully opt in or fully retreat

And honestly? I even think it could be a fun family vacation for the right family dynamic (especially with older teens / adult kids but be advised in international waters VV allows all ages to drink), because there’s so much to do and the vibe is just easy.

Insider Tips (The Stuff People Don’t Tell You)

🛏️ If the bed feels too firm… ask for a mattress topper

Virgin beds can feel a little on the firmer side depending on your preference.
Just ask for a mattress topper — it’s an easy fix and makes a big difference.

🍿 Room service is included (use it!)

This is such a small detail but it’s a huge luxury-feeling perk.
Late-night snacks in bed + movies = best.

🎭 Don’t skip the weird events

Drag Bingo, themed nights, random crafting classes, dinner theater, anything hosted by the entertainment staff or the hostess onboard (cruise director sort) — this is where Virgin shines. If you strike up conversation with the very friendly dancers you might even get an invite to one of the famous “secret parties” onboard! Even if you think “that’s not my thing”… try it once.

👯‍♀️ Solo traveler meetups are a hidden gem

If you’re cruising solo, this makes it feel welcoming fast.

🗓️ Short sailings are perfect for a first-time Virgin cruise

A Wed–Sun trip is long enough to feel like a real vacation, but short enough that it’s an easy yes.

✨ Final Verdict

This trip was such a fun reminder that vacations don’t have to be complicated to feel amazing. Virgin Voyages is playful, stylish, easy, and full of personality — and it’s the kind of cruise where you can be as social (or as cozy) as you want.
